Last of the Red Hot Lovers
At the comedy’s core is Barney
Cashman, a middle-aged nebbish who wants to join the sexual
revolution before it’s too late. A gentle soul with no
experience in adultery, he fails in each of three seductions
- a sexpot who likes cigarettes, whiskey, and other women’s
husbands, an actress friend who he discovers is madder than
a hatter, and his wife’s best friend, a staunch moralist.
The laughs are plentiful in this play about a gentle fellow
who just cannot succeed in sinning.
The Broadway production of "Last of the Red Hot Lovers",
directed by Robert Moore, opened in 1969 at the Eugene
O’Neill Theatre where it ran for 706 performances starring
James Coco, Linda Lavin, Doris Roberts, and Marcia Rodd.
James Coco, Linda Lavin, and Robert Moore were all nominated
for Tony Awards. Neil Simon adapted his play for a 1972 film
directed by Gene Saks. The cast included Alan Arkin, Sally
Kellerman, Paula Prentiss, and Renee Taylor.
Starring in Dreamchasers production as Barney is Jamie
Connor of Plymouth. The three women are portrayed by Corinne
Manning and Alice Tilles of Norwell, and Emily Genovese of
Hingham.

makeup is Maggie Russell of Norwell. Sound Technician is Tom
Driscoll of Norwell. Running Props is Lydia Kotlinski of
