a middle-aged, cynical author suddenly confronted by the ghost of his first
wife, Elvira, much to the
dismay of his second wife Ruth. There's also a madcap
spiritualist, complete with crystal ball and incantations.

"Blithe Spirit" was written by Sir Noel
Coward. This delightful, witty farce is an ectoplasmic romp about Charles
Condomine,
a middle-aged, cynical author suddenly confronted by the ghost of his first
wife, Elvira, much to the dismay of his second wife Ruth. There's also a madcap
spiritualist, Madame Arcati, complete with crystal ball and
"spells." Written and first produced in England in 1941, the
play came to New York City later in the '40s starring Clifton Webb as
Charles. In 1945, it was made into a very successful film directed by
David Lean and starring Rex Harrison as Charles, and Margaret Rutherford as
Madame Arcati. The playwright, Noel Coward, was knighted in 1970.
Starring in Dreamchasers' production of "Blithe Spirit" are

- Ali Selby of Norwell as Ruth, and
- Grier Colella of Norwell as Madame Arcati
Completing the cast are Casey Haight, Matt Hanson, and Arline Litchfield, all
from Norwell.
