FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

5/7/10

Dreamchasers Theatre Arts Center of Norwell will present three performances of “LETTICE AND LOVAGE”, a wonderfully hilarious and touching play by Peter Shaffer author of “Equus”, “Royal Hunt of the Sun”, and “Amadeus”. Presented on Broadway in 1990, “LETTICE AND LOVAGE” was nominated for the Tony Award as Best Play. Maggie Smith won the Tony as Best Actress for her portrayal of Lettice, and Margaret Tyzack won the Tony as Best Featured Actress for her portrayal of Lotte in the Broadway production. The play focuses on these two characters, Lettice and Lotte who are two polar opposites.

Lettice lives in a world of historical romance inspired by a code her mother taught her: “Enlarge! Enliven! Enlighten!” Lotte, on the other hand, is a purist interested only in “the facts”. Lotte is Lettice’s boss, and the results of their interactions are hilarious and passionate.

Starring in Dreamchasers production as Lettice is Corinne Manning of Norwell. Corinne has been a student at Dreamchasers for nine years and has appeared in leading roles in SECRETS OF A SOOCER MOM, ANNE OF GREEN GABLES, LAND OF THE DRAGON, THE ODD COUPLE, THE GUYER GIRLS, THE LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS, and, most recently, as M’Lynn in STEEL MAGNOLIAS. The role of Lettice will be Corinne’s final performance at Dreamchasers as she graduates from Notre Dame Academy this month and enters Wheaton College this Fall. Playing the role of Lotte is Alice Tilles of Norwell, another long time student at Dreamchasers. Alice has also appeared in leading roles at Dreamchasers including BALLAD HUNTER, EMMA AND THE LOST UNICORN, THE LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS, SECRETS OF A SOCCER MOM, and, most recently, as Shelby in STEEL MAGNOLIAS. Completing this talented cast are Nils Carlson and Anders Carlson of Norwell, and Corey Langley and Tyler Gagnon of Holbrook. Costumes, hair, and makeup are created by Maggie Russell of Norwell and Sandra Holbrook of Plymouth. Set Construction is by Albert Faraca of Plymouth. Creating the Program is Michele Comer of Hanover. Doing Concessions is Kevin Doyle of Norwell. Creating props are Sarah Tilles and Ingrid Carlson of Norwell. Photography is by DeeJay Farley of Plymouth. And directing LETTICE AND LOVAGE is Dreamchasers Artistic Director Rosann M. Weeks.
