Dreamchasers Theatre Arts Center of Norwell
will present the New England premiere of the
magical fable “Emma and the Lost Unicorn” by
Trisha Sugarek. Ten year old Emma enjoys the
forest near her home, only to discover it is
inhabited by all sorts of magic. She is chosen
by Cleo, the queen of the fairies, to help
rescue a unicorn trapped by the spell of an evil
warlock named Kodak. To succeed, Emma must best
Kodak in a competition to solve riddles. Why
riddles? Because as Queen Cleo says, “In the
Land of Faeries, we do not hit. We are too
intelligent and wise to resort to fists and
weapons. Our words are our most powerful
weapons.”
This is the second play by Trisha Sugarek
which Dreamchasers has produced. In November of
2007 , Dreamchasers presented the World Premiere
of Ms. Sugarek’s play “The Guyer Girls” to
packed houses and standing ovations. Ms. Sugarek
will attend Dreamchasers production of “Emma and
the Lost Unicorn”.
Starring in this production are Mary Lambert
as Emma, Alice Tilles as Queen Cleo, Todd Selby
as Kodak, and Lydia Lambert as Rainey the
unicorn. All four of these young actors are from
Norwell. Completing this talented cast are Ryan
Kramer, Abigail Lambert, and John Lambert of
Norwell; Colleen Gill of Pembroke; Caitlyn Comer
and Kathryn Griffin of Hingham; Hanna Stern and
David Stern of Marshfield; Samantha Mushin of
Cohasset; and Amanda Wilson and Gabrielle Egan
of Hanover.
Creating costumes, hair and makeup are Maggie
Russell of Norwell, Sandra Holbrook of Plymouth,
and Nella Stern of Marshfield. Running sound is
Abby Russell of Norwell. Handling concessions is
Kevin Doyle of Norwell. Doing the Program is
Julie Alcott of Nashua, New Hampshire. Creating
and maintaining Dreamchasers website is John
Garvey of Till Rock Design in Norwell. Directing
“Emma and the Lost Unicorn” is Dreamchasers
Artistic Director Rosann Weeks.
Performances are Thursday, June 12th, at 4
pm, Friday, June 13th, at 7 pm, and Saturday,
June 14th, at 2 and 7 pm. Tickets are $10 for
General Admission, $8 for Senior Citizens and
Students, and $5 for Dreamchasers students.
Tickets go on sale at the theatre thirty minutes
prior to each performance. All performances are
at The Norwell Grange Hall, 142 Main Street in
Norwell. There is also a Final Dress Rehearsal
on Wednesday, June 11th at 4 pm to which Senior
Citizens and Teachers are invited free of
charge. A discussion period with the cast,
director, and audience will follow this final
dress rehearsal.
