Dreamchasers Theatre Arts Center will present four performances of the hilarious comedy “Last of the Red Hot Lovers” by Neil Simon. The Broadway production, directed by Robert Moore, opened in 1969 at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre where it ran for 706 performances starring James Coco, Linda Lavin, Doris Roberts, and Marcia Rodd. James Coco, Linda Lavin, and Robert Moore were all nominated for Tony Awards. Neil Simon adapted his play for a 1972 film directed by Gene Saks. The cast included Alan Arkin, Sally Kellerman, Paula Prentiss, and Renee Taylor.

The play tells the story of middle-aged Barney Cashman who married his high school sweetheart and who now wants to have one sweeping extra-marital, romantic fling in his tranquil, faithful marriage before life passes him by. On three different afternoons he brings women to his mother’s apartment while she’s at the hospital doing volunteer work. There are plentiful laughs in this tender portrayal of a decent fellow who just can’t succeed in sinning.

Starring in Dreamchasers production as Barney is Jamie Connor of Plymouth. The three women are portrayed by Corinne Manning and Alice Tilles of Norwell, and Emily Genovese of Hingham. Creating the costumes, hair, and makeup is Maggie Russell of Norwell. Sound Technician is Tom Driscoll of Norwell. Running Props is Lydia Kotlinski of Norwell. Handling concessions is Kevin Doyle of Norwell. Directing “Last of the Red Hot Lovers” is Dreamchasers Artistic Director Rosann M. Weeks.

All performances are at Dreamchasers’ home, The Norwell Grange Hall, 142 Main Street in Norwell. Performances are Friday, March 14th at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 15th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 16th at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for Senior Citizens and Students, and $5 for Dreamchasers Students.
