FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
10/29/07 Dreamchasers Theatre Arts Center of Norwell
will present four performances of the
wonderfully moving play “The Guyer Girls” by
Trisha Sugarek. This play is reminiscent of both
“Little Women” and “I Remember Mama”. It is
unique in that the script is based upon true
stories told to the young Guyer girls about the
Guyer women.
In the play, Sophia and Levi Guyer migrate to
America and move out west to raise their family.
Act One is set in the early 1900s, and we see
the girls as teenagers who then progress to
becoming young women who in turn have their own
children and make their own life decisions, some
good and some bad. In Act Two the “girls” are
now young women who struggle to keep their
families whole amidst the turmoil of Pearl
Harbor aided at all times by the wisdom and love
of their Mama. This play abounds with laughter,
tears, love, and sibling rivalry galore. It is a
rich and colorful tapestry of an American
family.
Starring in Dreamchasers production as Mama
is Corinne Manning of Norwell. Her daughters are
played by Emma Parrish of Duxbury, Raisa Hoffman
of Marshfield, Tess Wenger, Rachael Caldwell,
and Alice Tilles all of Norwell. Creating
costumes, hair, and makeup are Maggie Russell of
Norwell, Sandra Holbrook of Weymouth, and Donna
Parrish of Duxbury. Running sound is Emily
Genovese of Hingham. Doing concessions is Kevin
Doyle of Norwell. Creating the program is Julie
Alcott of Rockland. Set construction is by David
Caldwell of Norwell. The production is designed
and directed by Dreamchasers Artistic Director
Rosann M. Weeks.
Performances are Friday, November 16th at 7
pm. Saturday, November 17th at 2 and 7 pm, and
Sunday, November 18th at 2 pm. All performances
are held at Dreamchasers home, The Norwell
Grange Hall, 142 Main Street, in Norwell.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for
Senior Citizens and Students, and $5 for
Dreamchasers Students. Tickets go on sale at the
theatre thirty minutes prior to each
